Any suggestion how to enable xscreensaver permanently?, so that it's on after a restart; since it is not a service, it can't be made "on" that way w/ chkconfig.

Is there any reason you require xscreensaver? I prefer the KDE one myself, it integrates with KDE power management. I think xscreensaver got installed via dependency chain, not by my choice.

I think it came about from experiacing Gnome screensaver problems in other distros. In Kwheezy I installed xscreensaver w/ Apper, and then looked for the way to make it run as default screensaver app; also, from that link it shows that xscr. has extensive programmable capabilities, which migth be of interest to explore.

Interesting, I have found KDE sufficient for my needs. But at least I know that xscreensaver has some extra capabilities worth considering. Thanks Vashek, others may find the above link useful.

That looks like quite a good guide, the link you posted. I'm just curious why the KDE one is not suitable for you.
