I know that Krut is under the GPL and that it has some hosting on SourceForge, but I cannot for the life of me find the source code.

Where is it?

The source code is included inside the jar-file, so just browse through that, regardless of which version you downloaded. You can also download it separately if you browse "Files" on the project page at Sourceforge. Finally, you can check for it under "Download" at the Krut Computer Recorder Web Site.
