I tried out KonCD and not only did it not work under Solaris, but the developers showed no interest in helping me. But I would advise you not to underestimate the "it's already installed" factor. Technical superiority counts for little, as any Betamax owner will tell you. So I do suggest that trying to get KreateCD incorporated in the KDE CVS is a good idea.
