Hi Since some days I run a pure KDE 2.2 Alpha2/Beta1 installation and compilation of kreatecd failed on my system, because of the missing kdb2html (seems it is't used anymore). I added to the autoconf/make thing a fallback now, if no kdb2html is found KDE2.2 is assumed and therefore the new methode used. The documentation caching fails, cause there seems to be a new DTD now, and the documentation can't be used in khelpcenter anymore, but at least installation doesn't break. I think, if we decide to suppoert KDE >=2.2 and KDE <2.2, we will have to make two versions of the documentation. ***** Niels, you should know better about the documentation things, could you tell me, if my assumption is correct, or am I mistaken ? ***** Alexander, how are the results of the on the fly version ? I'm sorry I hadn't time to help anything ****** My future plans: 1) Do some more UI stuff (another advanced mode, and the integration of the full-meter) 2) ISO9660 mounting 3) replacement/extension of the FileTree class Kind regards Joseph Wenninger |

Hi! The on-the-fly support progress is not very fast at the moment (lack of time). I hope I can make the new changed ProcessInterfaces class compile this week. There are much change left. My Plextor CD-rw burner arrived, is installed and works well. This will really help to test burning. Alexander |

KreateCD Comment By possy on March 23, 2001 10:31:03 (EST) Version 1.0.0 Hello, Program looks fine, but: where on earth stores this program his configuration files (pathnames to the programs cdrecord...). Under KDE2 it is not possible to run needed progs in other locations than /usr/bin. Newer versions of cdrecord et al. however are stored in /usr/local/bin. The configuration-setup GUI won't accept new entries. Thanks for helping me... |

I'll add Multisession support soon Multisession works only in full featured mode. In this mode you add an new Mode 1 Track, select Filesystem as source and then there is another window which supports multi session. Kind regards Joseph Wenninger |

Dear developers, I have complained before about a problem where I get the error message "Unrecognized error while writing CD-R!!!" if I try to write more than one disk in the same session. (And occasionally also on the first-time write). I have tracked this down to the cdrecord process failing because it runs out of file descriptors. Here's the error message. " /opt/schily/bin/cdrecord.real: Too many open files. \ Cannot open '/home/keith/tmp/kreatecd_11305_957.cdt'.f" Fortunately this number is configurable as a shell limit under Solaris so replacing the cdrecord executable with #!/bin/csh -f unlimit descriptors exec /opt/schily/bin/cdrecord.real $* fixes the problem. There were only 24 tracks being written, and the default number of descriptors is 256, so my guess is that the cdrecord brocess is being invoked by an "exec", but from a process with a lot of open files. It looks like there's a file-descriptor leak somewhere. Hope this is helpful. There seems to be a problem with correctly determining the length of certain MP3 files, although most work correctly. Could somebody please try downloading the following files and seeing kreatecd correctly determines the length of them? The files are http://www.eurofestival.net/01/media/twotricky_angel.mp3 and http://members.madasafish.com/~oneurope/estonia2001.mp3 Both are about 3 minutes long. Yet KreateCD reports the lengths as 0:00:13.18 and 0:00:30.41 respectively. I suspect these may be defective in some way as mpg123 reports errors for one of them, but does play them correctly. This is running under sun-sparc-solaris which is a big-endian architecture, in case that makes a difference.
