I would like to see you offer us a backport for debian stable, or at least something I may add to the sources.list configuration file, so that this program is updated automatically. Most software vendors have moved to this model, since Debian stable is only upgraded every two years. That time table will not change because of the nature of its development.

Despite kpcli being available in many Linux and *BSD distributions today, we are not packaging for any of them and would prefer not to. Because kpcli's dependencies are relatively minimal, it should be easy to package a backport for Debian stable. I suggest that you make that request of Arno Töll, who packages kpcli for Debian and Ubuntu today:

Arno maintains several high profile Debian and Ubuntu packages, including apache2 and lighhttp, so he is definitely an expert and really doesn't need any help from us... http://qa.debian.org/developer.php?login=arno%40debian.org

    Sincerely,

    Lester
