Error on Keepass Mono for Ubuntu with GoogleSyncPlugin: "The plugin cannot be loaded"

I use Keepass on linux and everything works, but when I want to use GoogleSyncPlugin this is the error:

    /usr/lib/keepass2/Plugins/GoogleSyncPlugin-3.0.1/GoogleSyncPlugin.plgx
    The plugin cannot be loaded
A newer .NET Framework is required

    I installed both keepass2 and mono-complete

I am experiencing the exact same conditions. The only difference is for me the error pathname does not include the "GoogleSyncPlugin-3.0.1" directory; I don't use subdirectories in my Plugins directory.

I'm using KeepPass 2.35, GSP 3.0.1 on xenial, with the same PPA for keepass2 as above, and am using Mono's own PPA for the most recent release of mono. I've also tried this with the beta and alpha PPAs; same result.
