What's wrong

Running tests/integration against the local stack on 13 Sep (on the intercompany branch, [#175]) gave 39 passed, 7 failed, 5 skipped and 3 errors. None of the failures come from that PR's code:

  1. dbt build stops at assert_d365_gl_vouchers_balance, which fails on 927 rows of demo D365 data, and skips everything downstream. test_dbt_build_succeeds, test_dbt_build_no_errors_in_output and both fixture tests (ic_two_partners, IC decisions 12–14) fail on dbt's return code alone. Run with dbt run, both fixtures pass with 0 expectation mismatches. assert_staging_not_stale also fails.
  2. Three staging-insert tests and three end-to-end setups get HTTP 500 from ClickHouse on INSERTs into staging tables. The cause has not been investigated.
  3. test_frappe_sync skips with "ClickHouse not available" when run from inside the container.

Why it matters

The fixture expectations are the only check that catches some intercompany rules (for example, membership by ownership window). While dbt build stops at the demo-data test, they never run inside the suite. CI doesn't run the suite at all (#181).

Suggested fix

  • Decouple the fixture tests from unrelated domain failures: build only +<ic models> with dbt run, then dbt test --select the IC tests.
  • Find the cause of the HTTP 500 on staging inserts (log the response body).
  • Fix the host that test_frappe_sync connects to inside the container.
  • The demo D365 ledger goes away with the planned site wipe.

The issue's first blocker is dbt build stopping at assert_d365_gl_vouchers_balance on 927 rows of demo D365 data. That data no longer exists:

    • The demo fixtures were removed by konsol#127 (konsol/fixtures/ is reference data only, enforced by a test).
    • On the current stack there is no D365 data at all — epm_raw.gl_entries and epm_bronze.general_journal_account_entries both return Code: 60, Unknown table.

So the suite will not fail the way this issue describes. It will very likely fail differently now (missing tables rather than unbalanced vouchers), which is a different problem and deserves a fresh run before a new issue is written. Related: konsolidat#181 (no dbt build or integration test in CI) is the reason nobody has noticed.

The first blocker was dbt build stopping at assert_d365_gl_vouchers_balance on 927 rows of demo D365 data. The suite will therefore not fail as described. It will very likely fail differently now, which deserves its own issue written from an actual run. konsolidat#181 (no dbt build, no dbt test and no integration run in CI) is why nobody noticed this went stale, and is the better place to spend the effort.
