This is a summary of kmttg Remote tab, Search sub-tab.
Tivos will only show up in this list if "Enable rpc style communications with this Tivo" is checked in the Tivos tab of the kmttg configuration panel.
Allows you to enter keywords to search through show listings.
Type
Set the search type in the Type field:
keywords - Searches for keywords in show titles, subtitles and descriptions.
Multiple words in Search field are treated as logical AND operation
To speed up searches be as specific as possible with the keywords.
For all other role type selections use the following syntax in the Search field:
FirstName LastName Example: clint eastwood
LastName Example: eastwood
FirstName1 LastName1, FirstName2 LastName2, ... Example: clint eastwood, tommy jones
Multiple comma separated names are treated as logical OR operation
Search
See the Type section above for a summary of how search field contents are treated for different types of searches.
Type in keywords to search for and press Enter (or press Search button) to start a search.
For series 4 and later TiVos you can include streaming and web videos as part of search if you wish by enabling one or more of the following check boxes:
Streaming content
Paid streaming content
Note that the streaming sources used are not able to be filtered based on what you have enabled in "My Video Providers" setting on the corresponding TiVo, and therefore all streaming sources are displayed regardless of whether you have access to them or not.
NOTE: Streaming only titles from Search table can now be added as bookmarks to TiVo My Shows using the Record button. Titles can be any type of streaming content: movies, episodic shows or even currently unavailable shows. For unavailable titles they will end up in "Currently Unavailable" folder on the TiVo.
NOTE: For series type matches you are able to use the SP button to setup a One Pass, however the Record button option will not work. For web videos you can use the Record button to schedule the video to download to your TiVo.
This is useful for example to search for a series that will be airing in the future. If found you are able to create a Season Pass with "All Channels" setting even though there is no guide data for it yet.
Once search completes the table will list matching entries. Like entries are categorized inside a tree entry. Click on arrow or double click a folder entry to epand all items in it. When you click on individual entries you can see a description of the show you clicked on in the kmttg message window.
NOTE: The first time you perform a search kmttg will also obtain ToDo lists for all TiVos setup for rpc remote. This is used to mark entries already scheduled to record in a different color in the table.
Max
You can control maximum number of results to search for to control the amount of time the search takes by adjusting the Max number.
Search++
Clicking this button brings up the Advanced Search dialog window which can be used to perform complex search operations.
This roughly matches wishlist capabilities possible via TiVos using simple or complex boolean search criteria. Complex searches can include OR, AND, NOT booleans and wildcards.
Also adds capability of restricting matches to a given list of channels or favorite channels only which is not possible via TiVo wishlists.
Search criteria can be saved with given names and can be recalled at a later time akin to search bookmarks.
i.e. This capability is in essence portable wishlists or search bookmarks independent of any TiVo that you can save via kmttg.
Record button allows one to select individual shows shown in table to be scheduled to record on a series 4 or later TiVo. The scheduling attempt uses low priority such that will only record if no conflicts with other recordings exist. i.e. This provides a convenient way of scheduling recordings that were not to record on alternate TiVos if available.
When you press this button a Recording Options dialog will appear giving you option to set Keep until property as well as initial or end time padding to use for the recording.
There is also a Try scheduling on all TiVos option. If option is enabled then kmttg will successively try and schedule the selected recording on all available remote-enabled TiVos. Thus if scheduling fails on originally targeted TiVo due to conflicts, then successively try scheduling on other available TiVos instead.
Any Streaming only titles from Search table can be added as bookmarks to TiVo My Shows using this Record button. Titles can be any type of streaming content: movies, episodic shows or even currently unavailable shows.
Season Pass
For shows of type "series" you can use the Season Pass button to setup a season pass for the show. The season pass will always be created with lowest priority, but you can use the Season Passes tab to adjust the priority once you have set it up.
NOTE: If you click on Season Pass button for a show that already has a Season Pass on the selected TiVo you are now prompted to modify the existing Season Pass instead of just seeing a warning.
WL
WL button can be used to create a wishlist. If a show is selected in table then the title will be set automatically to that title in the wishlist dialog that comes up. You are prompted with wishlist dialog where you can define wishlist with boolean logic for keywords, title keywords, actors and directors.
NOTE: Even though a title is required to be specified, the Wishlist will be named by TiVo according to the search elements you setup.
NOTE: Existing non-autorecord wishlists are not visible or editable via RPC and have to be managed on the TiVo itself.
MR button can be used to create a single or repeating manual recording on your TiVo where you specify the channel, date and length of recording.
This can be useful when guide listings are not correct or up to date or missing.
Refresh ToDo
Refresh ToDo list that is used to highlight shows that are already scheduled to record on any Series 4 unit configured in kmttg. The ToDo list is only obtained automatically the first time it is needed so if you are modifying the ToDo list on 1 or more units it is useful to periodically use this button to refresh the list.
NOTE: A single unified ToDo list is shared among Search, Guide and Won't Record tabs. This avoids obtaining ToDo lists multiple times for different tables.
NOTE: For table entries that are flagged as being in ToDo list when you click on table entry the title printed to kmttg message window will show (to be recorded on tivoName) so that you know which TiVo this show is scheduled to record on without having to run/consult ToDo table.
NOTE: The unified ToDo list will be refreshed automatically when needed if it has been at least 15 minutes since the last time it was refreshed. This avoids having to manually use this button to periodically refresh ToDo list if you have the kmttg GUI up for a long time.
