  Just got back from vacation.

This is feasible. I would probably just add /usr/share/kmfl to the list 
of folders that scim-kmfl-imengine checks for kmfl keyboards. In the 
meantime, you could set up a symbolic link between /usr/share/kmfl and 
/usr/share/scim/kmfl.
