kmetronome outputs only MIDI events, not audio.

To produce digital audio from MIDI events, you need a MIDI Synthesizer. The best results are from hardware MIDI synths, either external devices like the expensive Roland SC88 (https://youtu.be/GL1onh_c3mE) or synths included in a sound card like Creative Labs SoundBlaster Audigy. An alternative is Software Synths (many available for Linux). For instance, my Linux-SonivoxEAS https://github.com/pedrolcl/Linux-SonivoxEas has an AppImage. Another one is qsynth, fluidsynth, etc.

Anyway, you need to connect the MIDI OUT from kmetronome to the MIDI IN of the synthesizer. In kmetronome: Settings->Configuration, output port connection, and select the name of the synthesizer. That's all.

Here is a tutorial for MIDI and Linux: https://userbase.kde.org/Tutorials/MIDI_on_Linux

You might want to add a popup disclaimer, to your app, explaining this very fact. It wasn't apparent to me that this was needed, and it likely won't be apparent to most other people as well.

    Best,

    :).

What part you didn't understand of "MIDI Metronome using the ALSA Sequencer"?

Maybe you don't know what MIDI is, but you download a MIDI program anyway.
