That's true, started (i think) more then 6 month's ago trying to port Klibido. 
At least I got all the cmake files in place and a few modules actually 
compiled. Unfortunately KDE' s API has been breaking a lot since the 
introduction of the solid stuff and some other big BC changes, so my efforts 
won't work anymore and it looks Stefan is way further on it's way.

That's not completely true, I've got a full time job which is eating up a lot 
of private time as well.

Nowadays we have http://techbase.kde.org/ which really lists loads of stuff 
people might wan't to know. The Qt4 and KDE4 API's are a huge improvement 
over KDE3, especially performance, multimedia and hardware detection are 
quite good now. But all namespaces and libs got a very big overhaul.
