This effects all modes, however it is particularly irksome in the Fluidity mode because if you don't correct the mistake (which one can't see) then subsequent text even if typed correct is marked as wrong due to the earlier error.

I've observed this on Klavaro 2.0 on Windows and Klavaro 3.01 on Debian 64 bit.
Both using UK keyboard and layout.

This a side effect of using GTK++, and particularly, Pango library inside of it. So, I don't have means to fix this as long as I'm using GTK infrastructure, ok?

Did Pango get fixed? I'm using Arch Linux and the problem now seems to be the opposite: pressing Enter instead of Space is not considered incorrect.

It was a dirty workaround, accepting Enter as Space. Any other character will be marked as error, but if the space is at the limit of screen it does not appear. Try to do an error at line end, and resize the window, you will notice that the space is marked there, but the engine doesn't show it (as long as spaces aren't important there... at least in the Pango's point of view).
