Import of Garmin Track Data

I would love to see in Kipinä the feature to import
(and maybe export) track data read from a Garmin GPS
device.
Personally I have a Garmin Forerunner 201 and have to
use their Windows-only software Logbook
(http://www.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=451).
The communication specs are at
http://www.garmin.com/support/commProtocol.html so if
you have the time to integrate such features (maybe
look at the Logbook software for more ideas, like track
maps, track profiles, summaries, different sports
activities as category, etc), I would love to test them.
Btw: why not do it in Java or C#(mono), then Kipinä
could run on Linux and Windows,MacOSX, etc, for more users.

possibly using pygarmin.sf.net as import script would be
good. at least for the start

Yep, that would be cool, but as I don't know anything about
that Garmin Forerunner thing, I think it would be better if
someone else could write a plugin for that when I'll get the
plugin system to work well enough for real use.
And when it comes to porting Kipin to other platforms, I
think it is possible to make a port even for Windows. But
I'm not doing it myself, because I haven't done any
development on Windows with C and I don't know anything
about the coding tools needed for that and so on.. But Mac
OS X should be different. AFAIK, it should be quite easy to
compile Kipin in Mac OS X, although I haven't even used it
ever.
But if someone is interested in Windows port, you can always
mail me and ask for help in doing that.
Btw, there won't be much development with Kipin in the next
six months (I'll be in the army). See news in the home page
of Kipin for more information.
