In order to save a bit of memory, TeX doesn't load all languages by defau= lt.=20 Go to the file /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/language.dat and uncomme= nt=20 the lines you want. I don't see any Swedish in that file, but you may find= =20 another language with similar hyphenation rules. The Swedish Babel file gives the email of the maintainer:=20 ba...@br....
