If you boot into single user mode on a FreeBSD KGI kernel, you will not be presented with any rc output or even a prompt. No user input is echoed, key event are still processed as the user can still CTRL+ALT+DELETE to restart the system.

Easy to repeat. Select option 6 from the boot loader menu.
