Trying to set preferences (advanced): password field is not selectable in .7Z or .zip

Also, wondering (as .rar code is freely available separately) if it may be possible to allow keka to create .rar files when .rar code is present at specified path?

I'm prepearing the 0.1.3.2 version to Tiger, so just a matter of time ;) Will advice you to test it.
Compress with rar is possible, since you will need a licensed rar binary (so you need to pay it). Will make it as an option in a future release.
