Print option - resolved variables
A lightweight and easy-to-use password manager

About a week ago I opened this topic in help forum.
It seems, there is missing any kind of option to print references / placeholders / string fields resolved.
The reasons, why this would be useful, are in the mentioned topic. Especially notice the three written down problems with the current state.
You didn't need to open a new request.
cheers, Paul
Huh? Paul, when people have posted suggestions to Help or Open Discussion in the past, you and/or wellread1 have frequently replied that "you should repost this in the Feature Requests tracker". Now which is it?
Where a suggestion is burried in a thread, creating an FR makes sense. In this case the the thread is the FR, so this is just duplication.
Also, in a large development environment having all FRs in one place makes work flow easier, but KeePass is a development is one person.
cheers, Paul
I would have thought, that one-man-(/less-men-)development would make spread FR between the lines even more complicated with thousands of topics in multiple areas. It's also making the whole development/support process less comprehensible for users. But if you want it that way. Sorry, next time I'll ask in the original topic first...
So my "FR" in the help topic was already recorded by development? Because there wasn't really any dialogue about that. One of the reasons why I started this here in the first place...
It's fine. Although I'm putting suggestions posted in discussion threads on my private to-do list, having a feature request in the tracker is useful (as users don't have my private to-do list; users can find suggestions in the FR tracker more easily than in the discussion forum).
In general, I think the best is to first discuss a feature in the forum (to see whether it makes sense, whether there are better solutions for the actual problem, etc.), and when it turns out that the feature is a good idea, post it in the feature requests tracker (ideally with a link to the discussion thread, just like you did).
Thanks and best regards,
Dominik
I've now added an option 'Resolve field references' in the 'Print' / HTML export dialog.
Here's the latest development snapshot for testing:

Thanks, it works really great! :)
Is there a way to get both the resolved and "raw" strings on the same printout? In many cases, it would be convenient to see both the info and where it came from in one place - and useful as a reminder that some of it is in fact coming from different places.
Good idea! I've added this now (the checkbox now is a combobox that lets you select one of the three behaviors). Furthermore, all placeholders are replaced now, not just field references.
