Hello,

KeePass v2.x

Since String Field is used to put additional passwords (i.e. 2nd pwd, pin, security code, ...), it would be great that we could "generate it" directly in the String Field (in the same way we do it in Password Field).

The workaround i use: Open Password Generator - Generate Password - Preview - Copy - Cancel - Advanced - Add - Paste, it's kinda tricky, specially if accidentally click Ok instead of Cancel...

And as pointed out in https://sourceforge.net/p/keepass/feature-requests/2672/ this would also increase the security since it makes it possible to evaluate past string fields for minimum security via derived settings in the password generator.

I've now added a password generation button in the entry string field dialog.

Here's the latest development snapshot for testing:

    Thanks and best regards,

In the input field, all data is deleted and a new password is generated. it can be done so that if there are newline characters in the additional field (i.e. there are several lines) then the password simply appears in the cursor location.

        Your suggestion won't be implemented.

Each string field contains a single value even if the value is formatted to make it appear as if it were multiple values. You need to define separate string fields for each value. For example, you could create string fields named Maxim's password and Gari's password.

Note: The Edit Entry dialog , and its sub-dialogs, should be used for editing only. To use a value, copy it by right-clicking on the entry, then select Copy Field from the context menu. The Copy Field menu item only appears if the selected entry contains custom string fields. Custom string field values can also be included in the entry's auto-type keystroke sequences using the {S:custom string field name} placeholder.
