How does KeePass find the private configuration folder

How does KeePass find the private configuration folder? Does it resolve the %APPDATA% environment variable, or does it use some other method?

KeePass calls Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.ApplicationData). For this, .NET internally calls the SHGetFolderPath Windows API function.
