    Hello,

I'm gladly using "variables" (references / placeholders / string fields) in KeePass v2.37 on Windows 10 v1511 for easier maintenance of my entries.
But how can I print out my entries with resolved variables? I know I can print "string fields" and "UUID" too, nevertheless there are still some problems with this way:

    1. god-awful to read
    2. tedious seeking an UUID in hundreds of entries, to just get a user name
    3. if you print just a group, it is possible that referenced values aren't part of this group, so you'll get a worthless printout

I'd prefer a printout that resolves like the entry preview in KeePass (red box in the screenshot).

    My Questions:

    1. Am I missing an option?
    2. How do you save your passwords on paper without getting in conflict with the mentioned problems?

Print and export are designed to show what's in each entry, in your case a reference.
The user and password are printed in the referenced entry so all you need to do is add a note to tell you where the master entry is.

    Thanks for the quick answer!

But your proposal handles only the second of the three problems and that in a rather inconvenient way:
Every time you use a reference, you have to remember to type the location of the original entry into the notes of the current entry and vice versa the location of the current entry into the notes of the original. Because it's completely static and so you have to update everything, if any entry moves to another location, or you’ll lose track of everything…
And that huge effort just to improve your printout from terrible to read to slightly less terrible to read.

Considering a printout for backup purpose, I think it's way more important to get the actual needed information quick and easy: Titles, user names, passwords, and not some references or variables. These may be a nice note, but definitely not that important or helpful, to be shown exclusively.

At least there could be an option, so the user can decide, what he wants to print.

I didn't say my work-around was great, just pointing out the reasons. :)

    cheers, Paul
