I have been using passwordmaker as my on-line password manager. It is an add-on to Firefox. After upgrading to FF57, passwordmaker is no longer available. I have a file called passwordmaker.rdf that contains all my web sites, usernames, etc. The data in this .rdf file is XML. Can Keepass2 import this file? Are there any considerations to the XML used? Is there documentation that would help with this task? Thanks.

What are you trying to accomplish by importing configuration data? Without passwordmaker how do you plan to reconstruct your passwords?

Does the rdf actually contain all your websites, usernames and etc? I thought the point was to generate passwords on the fly based on the website domain and a master password.

PasswordMaker Pro is compatible with Firefox 57. It claims to be compatible with PasswordMaker and seems to have instructions to import the PasswordMaker rdf.

The passwordmaker .rdf file contains web sites, userid's, what to use to generate the password, length, hash algorithm, and a few other fields. The master password may be encrypted in there as well.

I have tried PasswordMaker Pro, It imports the .rdf, but every entry becomes a profile. So I have 255 profiles. Since My wife and I have logins on the same web sites in many cases, looking for the one that doesn't come up on a web site is a nuisance. Additionally, I have found no way to have PasswordMaker Pro use my imported profiles when I start FF. It seems to always want to start with 2 profiles from a javascript file called Defaults and Alphanumeric. I did export the 255 profiles into a file that PasswordMaker Pro labels Passwordmaker Pro Profile Data.rdf. However, I must reimport that every time I start FF. I have placed the Passwordmaker Pro Profile Data.rdf file in my current FF profile, and I have also placed it in the Passwordmaker Pro folder within my browser-extension-data folder in the current FF profile. Neither of these work to load my required profiles. I can find no information as to where to store this .rdf file. I have asked questions at the web site for Passwordmaker Pro concerning these issues, but I get no responses.

Because of all the issues, I thought I'd give Keepass2 a try. It seems to have good reviews, is open source, and seems to have a reasonably large user base. Plus I'd no longer be at the mercy of FF upgrades that cause add-ons to become obselete.

If the password is generated on the fly you would need to generate and copy it to KeePass. As you seem to be able to do that then you should be able to take the XML data and turn it into something KeePass can use.
Can you post a sample of the XML file for us to work with?

    cheers, Paul

Are you speaking of the generated passwords for each web site? That would be quite a task. The XML in the .rdf file has all the information required to generate a password, but the master password is not in the .rdf file. I thought Keepass worked on the principle of a master password and then generated the passwords from the userid, web site (or whatever data it is told to use), along with other info such as password length, character strings to use, hashing algorithm, etc. I am not sure what you are saying the ,rdf file would need to contain.

No, that is not how KeePass works. KeePass is just a record of the data. like a spreadsheet with encryption.
The only way to convert PasswordMaker to almost any other password manager is to create the entries, then manually copy all passwords.

    cheers, Paul
