So I understand the KeeFox/Kee Firefox plugin is going way for subscription. Something I can not afford (no joke). So, without that plugin, Keepass does not fill in Firefox for me. The other way I do passwords is from my spreadsheet, copy and paste. So, without a Firefox intergration for Keepass to auto fill for me when it sees the correct website to fill, what is the point of it other than to store passwords? I do that in my spreadsheet (yes, I know, not "secured" but safest method to not lose them and it contains logins since 1994 (so many stupid sites I had to create an account for just one use!).
So, if there another (freeware) recommended plugin for Firefox these days or no?
    Thanks.

Looking at the info available on kee.pm, it looks to me like the integration with KeePass will still be free, it's just the new "Vault" service the author plans to make paid. Unless I am misunderstanding what I read.

Why do you think a spreadsheet is the "safest method to not lose them"? I really really don't understand that statement. If you're concerned about forgetting your master password, why not just write it down and keep it with your other important papers?

And as others say, you don't need Kee to use KeePass with Firefox. On top of autotype, there is drag and drop or even copy/paste available from KeePass.

If you're truly set on using a browser extension, and Kee no longer meets your needs, try Tusk or keepasshttp-connector. Or move to KeePassXC and use their browser integration solution.

People do not understand the basics of KeePass.
KeePass allows to auto-type to any window application basically including web browsers.
the only issue is that KeePass cannot target the URL...... it still works perfectly fine with targeting the title.

And for taking the URL into account there is a great KeePass plugin available: https://sourceforge.net/projects/webautotype/

Only difference compared to Kee: Browser forms are not filled automatically. You have to use KeePass' Global Auto-Type hotkey instead https://keepass.info/help/base/autotype.html#autoglobal

Also there is Keeform which even auto fills username and password
if the web page is started from the KeePass entry.
      Works with Firefox and Chrome.

I tried the auto type methods before, which did not work for me hence why I used the plug in. The less I have to touch a key or a click, the better.
The issue with Keepass lately too is that it does not even save/updates passwords or even promotes asking to do so (on two computers). So already am doing extra stuff I never had to for years.
I always look for the shortest path from 0 to 0.
Well, will have to figure something out then.
    Thanks.

KeePass never saves or updates passwords, that is the plug-in doing the work.

You can still use Kee with KeePass for free. Kee Vault is a separate option which you can choose to subscribe to or not.

There's more information about Kee Vault on the Kee support forum: https://forum.kee.pm/t/kee-vault-and-kee-version-3-0/2025/

PS for the regulars here: I do still pop in every few months to skim through all the posts but as you often say, questions about Kee (and now Kee Vault) are best being reposted on https://forum.kee.pm since I keep a much closer eye on that.
