Hi, I've got keepalived running for just vrrp router failover. I'm writing an article about keepalived and vrrp for publication and I realized there are a couple things I'm still unclear on: 1. What's a virtual MAC address? I assume that involves assigning a second mac address to an ethernet port. I see some references to that but I haven't found a good explanation. If you use vmacs with vrrp, does a mac address move between the master and backup? Does keepalived support that? It seems like it would only be useful if you had devices that didn't understand gratuitous arp. 2. How fast is the failover between master and backup? Are there any config options that control this? I haven't found any. Just trying to get a better understanding of vrrp and keepalived. Thanks, P. -- Philip J. Hollenback ph...@po... www.hollenback.net |
