Scrolling down (toward the end of the files, text
moving up), is curiously very slow compared to
scrolling up.

    I never noticed so far.
Could you please mention how big your files are, and if the scrolling
speed also depends on the file size or on the position within the file
    (top or bottom?).
Are you talking about the diff-windows or the merge output window?
How fast is your machine (GHz?) and what is the speed (lines per
    second) in each direction?

The problem actually seems to be external to kdiff3.

I've got a special mouse driver that handle two mouse wheels
and it turned out to be some of the propsed wheel modes that
makes scrolldow be slow. With the "normal" "MS-InteliMouse"
wheel mode, scrolling down works fine, but then, the 2nd
mouse wheel (for horizontal scrolling) is disabled.

So, it's either a bug in the mouse driver or in Qt.

    Regards

PS: the mouse driver is A4Tech Wheelworks Deluxe 7.64

    Hi,
In version 0.9.90 I've adjusted the scrolling a bit, but I
would not expect a difference because I never experienced a
    similar problem myself.
    Cheers,
    Joachim

my comment about the problem being caused by the mouse
driver is actually wrong. sorry about that.
the scrolling speed difference still exists.

It would help me if you could answer at least these
    questions:

    • How big are your files?
    • Does the scrolling speed depend on the file size?
    • Is something peculiar about the file like very long lines
      towards the end?
    • Do you have word wrap enabled?
    • How fast is your machine (GHz?) and what is the
approximate speed (lines per second) in each direction?
    • Is the difference also noticable when using the arrow
      keys?

I was never able to reproduce.
    Perhaps 0.9.93 is better.

Right, this is probably completely out of date. I don't even have anymore the system/hardware on which i noticed that, and the Qt lib have evolved since.
