When I create a new archive (I do this as a root user)
with Extended Atributes on, the Creation window hangs,
and fails to redraw. At this time, kdar appears to
continue, as the hard drive and my backup drive
continue to run frequently. If I let it run overnight,
I can open, verify, and diff the archive with no problems.
However, the only way to "cancel" is to kill the Kdar
window, and sometimes, I even have to logout for the
processor to drop back to normal. While the window
hangs and fails to redraw, Kdar then maxes out the
processor.
I am running:
(output of kdar --version)
Qt: 3.3.3
KDE: 3.3.2-0.4.ydl.1 Yellow Dog
KDar: 2.0.4
(some output of dar -V)

Does the main KDar window freeze too? How long does it take for
the progress window to freeze---right away, or after awhile?
Are you running security-enhanced linux? I.e. do you have the
"security" namespace for extended attributes?

Yes, the main KDar window freezes too, therefore making KDar
totally unresponsive. It usually takes approximatly two
minutes for this to happen.
As for the security-enhanced linux, I want to say no, but
I'm not totally sure. I'm running Yellow Dog Linux 4.0.1,
which is basically Fedora Core 2. I hope that helps. If it
matters, I'm running the 2.6.11.5 kernel.

Does anything appear in the KDar message window (and if so,
what?), or does the only the progress dialog show activity before
the crash?
Thanks,
JB
