I think you'll find that is the standard behavior in Linux -- certainly in KDE apps. If you just want to select, use Control+click.
If you really want to turn it off, you might try going into the KDS Control Center > KDE Components > File Manager > Previews and MetaData... but I have not actually tried it because I like the default behavior.
