I have installed te 25th version in old HP5700 without troubles. But when I connect the loudspeaker I found a cyclic "toc-toc" sound on it. If I start playing any sound file, this toc-toc noise disappears and the music sounds perfectly. At the end of playing the noise starts again.
I ha ve finally found the solution. This is caused by an energy-saving procedure when any sound is sent to PC output.
To solve it do sudo nano /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
and add the line options snd-hda-intel power_save=0 power_save_controller=N
reboot and all runs OK
