When I try to Login after installing to hard drive, using "ubuntu" and leaving Password blank, i get "Login incorrect or forbidden by policy" for an error message.
I've tried reinstalling the OS a couple times and I still can't Login.
I tried Ctrl Alt F1 to enter login info and that didn't work either.
is there a workaround for this issue?
Thanks Chris

Hi Chris,
Which version: 32-bit or 64-bit?
When you login to the live system, it is "ubuntu" with no password.
When you install it on your hard drive, it is whatever user name you
picked, and whatever password you've given it.
Sometimes, people mix up which one they booted...please double check.
My guess, since you said "reinstalling the OS", is that you're booting
from the hard drive and expecting the default login/password to work,
which it won't for obvious reasons.
Also, make sure you have a proper download by comparing the MD5SUM of
your file to that shown on the Sourceforge website.
Let me know if any of this helps to resolve the issue. If not, we'll
figure out something else. :-)

I just finished installing v25 (64bit) on my hard drive for the second time. The username and password I entered on both installations absolutely does not work. The password I used both times includes the @ and the $. Is this why my installations do not work? I'm getting the "Your password is incorrect. Please try again." prompt after trying to log in.

I downloaded the operating system, and the live CD version looked great, but when I installed it I could not log in, it showed "other", I used my username and password (i took a photo of it), but it failed. I tried twice. I really liked the look of the system, bu can't get it after installing. It's the latest version, hhelp!

I can not login. I never got the 'continue testing' button. I only got reboot. Ubuntu is installed on the PC. I was able to login with 'ubuntu' and hit the update button by accident and then it rebooted and was not able to log back again with 'ubuntu' or the userid and passwork I chose, which I understand why the latter don't work. I an on a samsung machine.
How do I re-install? I can't get back to the BIOS screen to boot from the USB drive.

This is confusing. why am i offered a chance to create username and password during installation if they DO NOT WORK when trying to log in after installation!!!!

Andy,
I did read it and it seems to me that IF entering a username and password during install does nothing, then that should not be part of the install. It seemed to me that the "fix_account" was in case there was a problem. Having username and password during install but not working is misleading and confusing.

There is apparently a bug in the installer, and believe me, if I knew how to fix it, I surely would. However, the installer code belongs to Ubuntu, and while I have perused the source code, I cannot for the life of me figure out why this is a problem in AHRL but not for Ubuntu.
I created the fix_account script for two reasons:
* to get around this apparent bug in the Ubuntu installer
* If subsequent accounts are created, the list of groups to which each user must belong is coded into the script. That info isn't easy to find in every case.
If you or somebody else has the ability to debug the installer code and offer a solution, I'm all ears. I would LOVE to have a solution for this problem. In the mean time, we have a workaround that is executed exactly once. I don't think that's such a bad tradeoff.

Hi Andy. I was reading your getting started text and I was wondering about this...?"Please note taht MultiBootUSB versions 9.2.0 and 9.3.0 seem NOT TO WORK

Does this mean I can't dual boot Mint 22.2 and your linux version?

I don't understand the connection you're apparently drawing between MultiBootUSB and dual booting with Linux Mint.
Those versions of MultiBootUSB (for me) did NOT create a properly bootable USB thumb drive, which is why I don't recommend their use. This says nothing about dual (or multiple) booting of operating systems.

Andy,
I think that might be the problem.
I'm about to restart right now so, we'll see.
I'll get right back to you.
Chris
Bingo!
That was it.
I'm in.
And now there's a popup box about Wicd to address theWiFi issue I was having before?
Ok, Thanks for your help.

I was able to get to the BIOS screen now, but when I change the boot order, it does NOT save, so I can reinstall and still can't login. Any ideas???
I finally got in with userid: xubuntu.
