I just downloaded and installed. I am able to login using the username/password
above, but was not able to create my own account.
Did i miss something somewhere?
Thanks!

HI Tim,
In this software collection, it is a documented "feature" of the Ubuntu
installer that it doesn't create the account that was specified during the
installation process. (I'm having the same issue while creating version 25,
but alas I digress.)
There is a workaround that only needs to be done once.
Boot the system via the hard drive and login using the default account.
In a terminal window:
- sudo /root/bin/fix_account
The script will ask for the username. Give it the name of the account you wish
to create. If the account exists, that's OK, but most probably, the account
does not already exist.
Answer the questions, etc.
Once complete, the new account will be created, and even more importantly, the
account will have the proper groups to make things work(!). :-)
Logout, and then login to the new account, and you should be all set. Once
that works, delete the default account.
I wish I knew how to fix this rather annoying feature.

I just burned ver 24e to a DVD. Everything works until I go to type in the password, (kb1oiq). Nothing I've tried is working. Can you help?

You should be seeing a graphical screen with a penguin, and the title "Andy's
Ham Radio Linux".
Please try that and let us know your result. If it doesn't work, please attach
a screenshot with your next reply.
