    Hello All:

With V22b-64 installed and running using a Verizon Router for WIFI internet access I could connect and operate fine. When I switched to an Xfinity router, I seem to have lost internet access even though I connect to WIFI ok and can ping the gateway fine. When I ping external I get no access errors.

Has anyone seen this before? Any help to fix?

    Thanks, Jeff/N1JCM

    Hello Andy & Group:

No feedback here, so I'm trying again...

Anybody having wifi problems when using an Xfinity router for internet access? @v22B-64bit

WIFI connects to router and ping to gateway OK, but no access to internet. No web addresses recognized, but ip addresses ping ok, so DNS issues?

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Jeff Marden

    Hello again Andy and Group:

Following-up, I appear to have found the issue with WIFI and the Xfinity router; no DNS defined.

I looked at /etc/resolv.conf, which holds the DNS definitions for internet access. This had one entry "nameserver 192.168.1.1". Unfortunately, no Comcast DNS's, and the Xfinity router is 10.0.0.1 locally. I edited the file to replace the entry with the two Comcast DNS adresses and internet now works.

Lastly, the resolv.conf file says do not edit by hand because it will be overwritten, so not sure about final solution...

This is all FYI I guess.

    Thanks,

    Good morning, Jeff.

I found the same problem and the same solution. As you have seen, resolv.conf includes a warning against editing the file by hand, says it will be overwritten by resolvconf (utility or script). However on AHRL there is apparently no resolvconf (say "which resolvconf", as a user or root, and nothing comes back).

So far my changes to resolv.conf have not been overwritten so I'm assuming it's safe and persistent until shown otherwise.
