On-board sound not available after install
Install ham radio software on your favorite flavor of Ubuntu Linux

HI Andy and thanks for the great software package.
I installed AHRL successfully on Zorin OS, but after the reboot I lost the output option for my on-(mother)board Realtek sound card under settings. The only option is the SignaLink USB. Therefore, all audio output (ex.: audio from a YouTube video) is sent to the SignaLink instead of my speakers.
The SignaLink does work well with WSJT-X.
OS: Zorin OS 17.2 Core
Computer: MSI MS-7599
AHRL version: 26a
The dummy output problem seems to be very common as of late, based on the number of posts I've seen about it on the internet. I cannot fathom anything that I've done in the AHRL installation that would have caused this EXCEPT: at the start of the installation, it does:
apt update
apt upgrade
Something changed in there that is causing the dummy output problem.
Temporary(?) workaround: at a terminal, type this command EXACTLY ONCE after each reboot:
sudo alsa force-reload
That has worked for others in terms of restoring the sound.
Please let me know if this works for you.
Per se, this is not an AHRL bug, but I'll continue to track it because many folks will likely hit this issue.
73,
Andy
