Title says it all. when the system is installed with secure boot support, shim is installed as fallback bootloader where it simply does not work. (esp)/EFI/BOOT/BOOTX64.EFI produces the same sha1-sum as (esp)/EFI/ubuntu/shimx64.efi so i think it's safe to assume they're the same file. the first file simply resets the system, the second boots it like normal. Again, same checksum, probably the same file.
i'm assuming this is an upstream issue but i would still like to report it so it can be added to FAQ or something, or in the unlikely case that this is an AHRL-specific issue. i'm going to look deeper into this issue, see where it originates and make another report wherever this all started.
feel free to treat this ticket as a heads-up and close it without further action.

I don't use secure boot, so I've never encountered this issue. Since AHRL is based on Ubuntu, I suspect that this is an Ubuntu issue. I don't do anything specific in this area.

    hey Andy,
sorry for the late reply, things happened. i agree on this being an upstream issue so i'd close the ticket but i don't think the edit function is enabled... docs say there should be an edit button in the top left but it's not here so i think the function is disabled?

i'd sign off with 73 but that's a privilege reserved for actual radio amateurs and i'm just a linux nerd providing an amateur with a linux laptop. so cheers,
    Daniel
