A clean install of 25a iso. typed in my user and password as instructed. Rebooted and tried logging in. Failed. Logged in as default Xubuntu user which workd. Looked in /home and the only user directory is for Xubuntu. Executed the 'users' command and only listed user is Xubuntu.

As a suggestion I would recommend putting the "new user" quirk as part of the visible text on the project. Having it inside that file (which needs to have a .txt extension by the way) had me figuring I did something wrong and do a full reinstall again until I decided it was not my error.

This problem is documented in several places on the chat forums on Sourceforge.
Also, it is very cleanly and completely documented in the GETTING_STARTED
document, which is referenced in capital letters on the AHRL page:

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE read this very fine document:
      https://sourceforge.net/projects/kb1oiq-andysham/files/v25a/GETTING_STARTED

If folks don't read the documents as recommended, I can't do much about that.

Hi Andy. Thanks for making this distribution.

Would you consider giving the GETTING_STARTED document a .txt file extension so it can open easy in a web browser? Otherwise you have to download and open-as a text document and I think that confuses a lot of people.

Or link the document to the latest release README, such as: https://sourceforge.net/projects/kb1oiq-andysham/files/v25a/

        Might avoid some needless chatter.

          At this location:
          https://sourceforge.net/projects/kb1oiq-andysham/files/v25a/

There are three files which are identical:
          GETTING_STARTED
          README_FIRST.txt
          README.txt

Even with that, many folks still don't read/follow the directions. Short of making this document the default download, I'm not sure how to address the issue.

With my browser, the files are always downloaded. Your mileage may vary.
