Kantaris is versatile media player for Windows that can play almost anything.

Release fixes all bugs reported to me, also Dutch and Norwegian translations have been added and a few others have been updated. Thanks Svein and Danny for the new languages.

The focus has for the most part been on developing new features and less time has been spent on fixing bugs and cleaning up the code. This has led to that bugs have been piling up so now I thought it was time to really focus on the user experience and I hope you like the result. Kantaris 0.3.6 released
This version only contains one major new feature; support for non-western characters in subtitles. So now you should be able to use your Arabic, Hebrew, Chinese, … subtitles with Kantaris.
Other improvements:
Added subtitles size setting
Speed up file loading
Saving downloaded subtitles in the “kantaris\cache” directory instead of in the “temporary internet files” folder
Double-clicking for full screen works again
Hopefully fixed a bug caused by bass_fx.dll in Vista 64-bit ( I can’t test it)
Fixed a bug with the listing of embedded subtitles
Uninstaller now removes file associations

It’s been almost exactly two months since version 0.3.4 and this is what I’ve been working on.

•Playback of all audio-CDs should now finally work.
•Seeking in MPEG-2 files fixed.
•Much better RAR support. Can now play most rar-archives containing video instantly without any unpacking and being able to seek in the file like it’s unpacked. I think this is a unique feature that no other player for windows has. I know that XBMC for Xbox can do the same.
•Automatically identifying a movie and listing subtitles for it available at opensubtitles.com also automatically downloads the subtitle of choice. This might also be a unique feature. :D

Fixed RAR support - Opening Rars in 0.3.3 didn't work
Fixed bug where some mp3 files wouldn't be recognized as audio files.
Fixed bug that threw an unhandled exception message if you tried to skip to the next track while at the end of the playlist.

I have received mails from two different sites telling me that in they have reviewed Kantaris and that they feel it deserves the highest possible score. This makes me happy and I will of course continue to make the player even better.

Kantaris is amedia player which can play almost anything you can throw at it -- AVI, MPEG, MGEG-AVC, WMV, MOV, MKV, quicktime, matroska, divx, xvid, H264, MP3, WMA, OGG files and more. Kantaris can also play DVDs and audio CDs. The player also displays some of the most beautiful music visualizations ever seen. All this is completely free.

Kantaris 0.1.8 is now available for download. This release fixes a bug affecting DVD playback. Also changed is the method of getting album covers, instead of using Amazon’s web services Kantaris now uses last.fm

Sorry for not making any updates lately but I’ve been on vacation. Now when I’m back I’m ready to release a new version with lots of improvements. Most of the improvements are made to the audio playback as video playback is pretty much unchanged. Kantaris now supports MIDI, Flac, AC3 and AAC files. An equalizer has also been added to the media player.

Fixed some minor bugs all over the place. Fixed a major bug that caused the settings to not be read correctly. Added an option to change the video output module. This should help if can't get video to show in Vista.

Release 0.1.4 feature a speed up in initial loading, bug fixes to the playlist, added feature where you can drag and drop media files. The installer has also been improved.
