I do not know if Novell is really paranoid. It could simply be that I did something wrong during the installation of SuSE. Because the first time one launches Kaffeine, a box comes up saying very clearly "download and install libdvdcss and mplayer's essential codecs package". So I guess if it was foreseen that divx would not work "out of the box", they would have precised that I should download the "all" package instead of the "essential". I would be interested to know whether other people had the same problem.
