Hi this is a bug I have repeated twice now. If I install Kaffeine 0.6 and try to tune to any DVB channels using my WinTV Nova-T DVB card it will not work and Kaffeine refuses to tune. However if I install kaxtv from this repository http://people.debian.org/~hamish/kaxtv/ version 0.23.2-0.1 (I need to force it to overwrite what seems to be some .png buttons and controls shared by it and Kaffeine) once I do this Kaffeine will now tune into all my DVB channels without difficulty. Having, as I said, confirmed this twice now, I can only assume that the KAXTV package repairs or replaces something that is broken in Kaffeine in regard to DVB functionality. It might be worth noting that there is no need for me to tune kaxtv in order for this work around to work. Also Kaffeine is missing some of my channels during the tuning process. Using the official DVB tools it is possible for me to specify that an extended scan is required. This takes much longer, but is generally always successful at finding all available channels. If you require any further info, feel free to contact me directly at this address. Unfortunately I can't subscribe to the list as I am a little overwhelmed by my current subscriptions to other lists. BTW Kaffeine rocks - and I really hope you fix this bug in the next version. Two things I would like to see in a future version are skinning (like Xine) and direct recording DVB to a format playable on most commercial DVD players. Keep up the great work! GJ |
