Hmm, that's fascinating.  I'm a bit new to Python as well, so let me
follow up with some additional questions.

I take it that the static method would have an @sig denoting static?

Also, hypothetically, if there were multiple classesin the same file
declaring "static" methods, how does python resolve the ambiguity?
