Have you checked out the JACOB project.  I haven't done much with it yet,
but I've been able to run some of the samples (such as opening and
manipulating Excel).  Just make sure you download the source and recompile
if you want it to work correctly on SDK 1.3.

Hello,

            I've been looking at running Pyhton scripts from JAVA and
initally started looking at Jython.  However Jython runs in the JVM and
therefore I'm losing out on the ability to call out to other systems (most
specifically ActiveX).
    I've seen and Java-Python bridge called JPE from Arkane software - the
question is - has anybody got any experiences with it good or bad?

    All/any help appreciated.
