Can webmail be installed in Apache 1.3.14 with Jakarta
3.2 instead of JServ?

I've successfully installed WebMail on Tomcat 4.x and
Apache 1.3.1x. Not sure about Tomcat 3.x.

No it can not.

First of it does not liek the 2.3 dtd.
Second if you cahnge the web.xml to 2.2 it faults with:

java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError:
javax/mail/MessagingException
