Thanks, great work !=20 (6) JPSGIS (Jump Pilot Sigle GIS) Another proposal for the name --> JP-SA (Jump Pilot Sigle Agile) Will you target Jump Pilot to use JDK 1.5 ? Regards, Basile -----Message d'origine----- De : Steve Tanner [mailto:ste...@bl...]=20 Envoy=E9 : vendredi 29 avril 2005 16:37 =C0 : jum...@li...; projetsigle@Uhb.Fr Objet : [projetsigle ] CVS OK for JPP-SIGLE Dear jump-pilot and projetsigle lists, CVS at jump-pilot is finally ready! This means that we can begin to work = on the modifications of the official Jump code. The code present is the CVS snapshot of April, 14th, 2005, from the CVS = of Vividsolutions. I have tagged it as "VIVID113". The module name is javagis. I know we should have chosen something else, = but we still can change it in the future, once we will agree on a name = for the core. Next step is, for any of you who want to contribute to the development, = to install a CVS client on your machine, and ask us for a user account = to be able to modify the CVS repository. For the CVS client, I recommend TortoiseCVS version 1.8.13 for those who = are working under Windows. For linux, I cannot recommend any program = since I have not tested them. To note that it may also be possible to = use Eclipse as a client CVS, but I have no experience. The best way would be to write a small tutorial on how to use = TortoiseCVS. For the moment here are a few explanations: On your hard disk, create a folder where will be stored your modules = (this means your local copy of the CVS repository): "jump-localfiles" Open this folder, and in the FILE menu of windows explorer, choose CVS=20 -> Make New module Fill in the fields of the form: - protocole: password server (:pserver:) - server: cvs.sourceforge.net - repository folder: /cvsroot/jump-pilot - user name: anonymous - module name: javagis By pressing OK, TortoiseCVS will prompt you for a password (just press ENTER) and then will make a local copy of the module javagis, on your = folder "jump-localfiles" (if you have been there when you launched the = command CVS -> Make new module Then, we basically have two commands to know (right click): CVS Update: TortoiseCVS will connect to the repository on sourceforge = and check if your flocal files need to be updated with more recent = versions on the server. You should perform a CVS update every time you = plan to work on a file to be sure you have the last version. CVS Commit: once you made the changes on a local file, you can commit = the changes on the file on the server, but if someone else had the good = idea to do the same, you will have to resolve a conflict (see = tortoiseCVS manual). However, in order to perform a CVS commit you need write access, so a = developper account. Since someone with write access can also perform = catastrophic commands, only very careful people are advised to work as = developpers. Please be sure to have minimal programmer talents to ask = for a developper account! A this stage I let you play with TortoiseCVS. Meanwhile we will redact a = small ROADMAP for the next steps of the development. Ah, we still have to choose the name... so far, I received 3 answers. I = recall you the possibilities: (1) JIGIS (JUMP International GIS) (2) JAMAGIS (JAva MApping GIS) (3) JINGIS (Jump INternational GIS) (4) JPP-JUMP (5) OpenJUMP (6) JPSGIS (Jump Pilot Sigle GIS) So far preferences were for (2), (3). Please send me your preference. To note that AGILES will also be part of the comitee. Steve |
