Here you go. Download the program Gnucleus http://www.gnucleus.com/ and run it on one of your computers on your local network. Do the same on another computer and connect the two together by pointing them at each other...on Computer 1 do "Add Node" in the advanced tab of Gnucleus connect dialog with the address of computer 2, on computer 2 do the same except add computer 1. Now connect JTella (the search moniter example is a good one for this) up to either one by pointing at either computer 1 or 2 and then go back to one of the gnucleus computers and do some searches...jtella will see the searches if you have done everything correctly. Good luck -bryanw p.s. you can do the same thing with bearshare, limewire, etc if you prefer... -----Original Message----- From: jte...@li... About the idea of running nodes on LAN. But then, initially, which host the first servent(i.e my own servent) connected to? We tried to connect to gnutellahosts.com 6436, but it doesn't connect. Which hosts & port will you suggest for the initial servent. If this initial servent work, i.e connect to Gnutella network, then everything will be fine. Hope to here from you guys soon. One more thing, with the idea above, how can we form the Gnutella network of my own. A few reason: 1. My university doesn't allow to connect outsider like Gnutella So, the problem is only how to run the first servent? which host & port this first servent connect to.
