I was using the improved version just fine before sending my PC for repair. New hard drive and install on Win 11 home. Every time I install this it comes up fine. Tried in the JTDX64 folder and in its own folder. Both times it starts fine. Once I change bands, or do anything, it just quits. No error message. It does not connect to the radio when I try to restart. No idea of what is going on here. Had to revert to the old 159 version. Ideas? -- 73, Mike KC7V Arizona Outlaws Contest Club |

After having installed WSJT-X-improved yesterday and having no issues with the upgrade, I decided to do the same thing with JTDX today. This time I have problems. My original JTDX installation was the jtdx-2.2.159-32A-win64.exe and it was working fine. I installed the jtdx-2.2.159-win64_improved.exe since that is the version which has been downloaded most by a wide margin. The improved version installed itself in a different directory than the original. When I try to use it, it opens and looks normal. It decodes signals and passes data to JTAlert. In the settings ->radio window. both TEST CAT and TEST PTT work correctly. But as soon as I try to transmit, the program crashes. I get a rig control error pop-up, and the details say close to "hamlib error trying to set split mode" (It disappears before I can write it down exactly.) In addition, the original version no longer starts although the jtdx.exe file is still present in the original location. Where do I go from here? Thanks! 73, John, K9MM |

Hi Cornel, Do I understand correctly that you have installed jtdx_improved but still only can start JTDX? Then the link on your desktop is not correct. In which folder did you install it? Open the Windows File Explorer and search for the different JTDX or jtdx_improved installations. Go to the "bin" subfolder and start the file jtdx.exe manually by double-clicking on it. If this is the correct version, manually display a hyperlink to this file on the desktop. Furthermore, you are mentioning Windows 7 32-bit. Then of course you need the 32-bit installer of wsjt-x_improved <https://sourceforge.net/projects/jtdx-improved/files/jtdx_2.2.159/jtdx-2.2.159-win32_improved.exe/download>. Did you use that or perhaps the 32A installer by mistake? Because the latter is a 64-bit installer with 32-bit audio instead of the usual 16-bit format. Hi Guy, The source code for JTDX 2.2.160 has not yet been published. Therefore, I cannot create an 'improved' version of it yet. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm... Absolutely, that was one of the first things I attempted was clearing out the JTDX.ini. It is the same result if I launch JTDX without specifying a rig. 73 de KF5U ---James KF5U ARRL VE & W5YI-VEC VE #37018E ------- Original Message ------- On Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at 14:52, DG2YCB <DG...@gm...> wrote: > James, > > Have you also tried to start with a fresh JTDX.ini file? Or was that your very first installation of JTDX? Because if you use an older, already used ini file and there is some invalid value in there, that can also have all kinds of unwanted effects. Just as another idea. > > 73 de DG2YCB, > Uwe > _________________________________________ > German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB > Dr. Uwe Risse > eMail: DG...@gm... > Info: www.qrz.com/db/DG2YCB > > > > Am 12. James, Have you also tried to start with a fresh JTDX.ini file? Or was that your very first installation of JTDX? Because if you use an older, already used ini file and there is some invalid value in there, that can also have all kinds of unwanted effects. Just as another idea. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe _________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: DG...@gm... Info: www.qrz.com/db/DG2YCB Am 12. So to throw another loop in here, JTDX launches fine if I specify a rig instead of just launching JTDX. I will just launch it that way moving forward. I will continue trying to track down the original problem but at least I can get back to using it! 73 de KF5U ---James KF5U ARRL VE & W5YI-VEC VE #37018E ------- Original Message ------- On Wednesday, October 11th, 2023 at 17:21, James KF5U via Jtdx-improved-community <jtd...@li...> wrote: > Thanks for the super quick response. Thanks for the super quick response. I appreciate it! I compiled from source and I get the same exact result. I am beginning to wonder if it has something to do with the use of Pipewire instead of alsa or pulseaudio. That is the only thing I can think of. Maybe Pipewire handles audio patches differently? I don't know. 73 de KF5U ---James KF5U ARRL VE & W5YI-VEC VE #37018E ------- Original Message ------- On Wednesday, October 11th, 2023 at 14:45, DG2YCB <DG...@gm...> wrote: > Hi James, > > To me it looks like there is something wrong with the ALSA sources/sinks. Hi James, To me it looks like there is something wrong with the ALSA sources/sinks. Perhaps missing permissions to start your audio devices? Iam using Linux Mint. The deb packages have been installed with a modified 20.3 system (boost 1.74 instead of 1.71, etc.), so that thay also work with other Linux versions. I mean, we all know that there are sometimes some issues when using deb packages, but you are the first one reporting this problem. Therefore I assume it is something special on your system. If I were you I would build from source. I can provide you with a tutorial in case needed. It is not very complicate. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe _________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: DG...@gm... Info: www.qrz.com/db/DG2YCB Am 11. I am having an issue with JTDX Improved v2.2.159 on Debian 12. For some reason, JTDX refuses to start every time as a non-privileged user but will start via sudo. Occasionally, after a reboot and removing any JTDX directory/file in /tmp it will start. There are no errors on start, it seems to just stall. Here is some relevant information about my particular Debian 12 install running i3 WM: Installed jtdx_2.2.159_improved_with_JTDX_GUI_LINUX_amd64.deb and jtdx_2.2.159_improved_LINUX_amd64.deb (Both Hallo Uwe, Ich habe am Wochenende die neue Version (64bit Windows mit JTX GUI) installiert. 73 de Stefan HB9GFX/DG9BDI Von: Uwe, DG2YCB <dg...@gm...> Gesendet: Sonntag, 30. Juli 2023 11:24 An: jtd...@li... Betreff: [Jtdx-improved-community] Minor update available. Dear JTDX_IMPROVED Users, Some of you may have already noticed, I have uploaded new installer files. This update fixed a tiny inconsistency in the code that caused the value for the "Align DXCC / distance / azimuth" spin box was not saved, but instead was always set to 1 after a restart. And additionally, hamlib was updated. Honestly, updating your jtdx_improved software is only worthwhile for those users who use this function, or for those who had problems with the previous hamlib version. That's why I have only updated a few of the installer packages so far. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm... <mailto:dg...@gm...> Info: www.qrz.com/db/DG2YCB <http://www.qrz.com/db/DG2YCB> |

Hi All, With the latest release I see a symbol / dot just before the country name which the internet tells me is associated with LoTW. Is there a way to suppress this symbol? Michael. |

Dear JTDX_IMPROVED Users, There is now also a 32-bit-audio version of jtdx_improved 2.2.159 available. Those of you who have a 32-bit audio system are welcome to give this a try. So far, I only have created Windows Installers, as well as provided the source code as a zip file. If any of you need a Linux Debian package, please contact me. However, I can only test the correct function of the 32-bit-audio support to a limited extent. As always, you can download the files from https://sourceforge.net/projects/jtdx-improved/files/jtdx_2.2.159/. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm... Hi all, For your information, I have now changed the code for WSJT-X, wsjt-x_improved and jtdx_improved so that "United States of America" is also displayed as "U.S.A.". It will come with the next release. So in the future it doesn't matter if the cty.dat file says "United States" or "United States of America". 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm... Hi all, Some users complain that "U.S.A." is displayed as "U.S.A. of America". The reason for this is that the maintainers of the CTY.DAT file have suddenly changed the name from "United States" to "United States of America". But since all programs (WSJT-X, JTDX, wsjt-x_improved, jtdx_improved, I think also MSHV) have a built-in algorithm to abbreviate/replace "United States" by "U.S.A.", this now results in "U.S.A. of America". This, by the way, is a good example of someone who makes a small change with good intentions but doesn't think about the side effects it can cause. The undesirable side effect only affects users who have downloaded an updated cty.dat file themselves, because the cty.dat file that comes with JTDX or jtdx_improved still uses "United States" as the name in its cty.dat file. However, the good news is: You can change it very easily yourself. Either delete any cty.dat file in your log directory, or edit this file and change "United States of America" to "United States". I will inform the maintainers of the cty.dat file about this annoying side effect and hope that they understand that it is better to use the name "United States" again. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm... Hi Micheal, Line 219 of countrydat.cpp (= one of the source files) makes, among others, the following substitution: _name.insert("UnitedStates",tr("U.S.A.")); The same is done for example for ".. Is." instead of "... Island". This is part of the original JTDX source code, I didn't change that. But, I mean, the reason is obvious. Some country names would be so long that they disturb or break the GUI. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm...
