Hi, With 'Show DXCC names' selected I can see the country for the decoded callsigns. I read that this might come from the cty.dat file. US stations show as U.S.A. However, the cty.dat file has 'United States'. Where does U.S.A. come from? Michael. |

Hi, Thanks for JTDX improved, I am currently transitioning from WSJTX. If I run both JTDXi (2.2.159) and WSJTX (2.6.1) side-by-side I see ~10% more decodes on WSPR with WSJTX. I see that WSJTX had improved decoders from v2.2 onwards. Do you intend to incorporate those improvements into JTDX improved? Thanks, Michael. |

Mike, That didn’t do it. I verified that the rigctl* bins and libs are in /usr and they are now. Same error. But the jtdx bins are in /usr/local/ including “jtdx” itself. But I run it has socket errors. This is what I ran for jtdx-improved: pi@pi3:~/Downloads $ sudo dpkg -i jtdx_2.2.159_improved_Rpi_armhf.deb Selecting previously unselected package jtdx. (Reading database ... 269868 files and directories currently installed.) Preparing to unpack jtdx_2.2.159_improved_Rpi_armhf.deb ... Unpacking jtdx (2.2.159) ... dpkg: dependency problems prevent configuration of jtdx: jtdx depends on hamlib (>= 4.5~git.20211220); however: Package hamlib is not installed. dpkg: error processing package jtdx (--install): dependency problems - leaving unconfigured Errors were encountered while processing: jtdx I have thought about this a little more. Something I thought about is that I want to test jtdx-improved on pi to learn about it. The test Pi am running this on, and encountering the issue with is with Raspbian “Bullseye”. However, the destination is for my RigPi still running “Buster”. Is the .deb install based on a particular OS? I don’t know these details. I didn’t want to run into issues with the RigPi I use remote everyday. But I do have a copy I could use to see if that is the issue. The RigPi is running Hamlib 4.5~git, but not 4.5.4. But mainly is the version of Raspbian creating the issue? 73, Kevin, W4RKU |

Did you compile Hamlib yourself? By default it goes in /usr/local (bin and lib) Ensure you remove any hamlib package you have installed. You may have to configure hamlib to replace the installed package. ./configure --prefix=/usr Mike W9MDB On Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 06:29:05 PM CST, Kevin Utzy <kru...@gm...> wrote: Hello, New to this version of software but not new at all to WSJTX/JTDX. Dear JTDX_improved Users, I am pleased to announce that the following update is ready for download: Update 2023-02-20: * The mode buttons now change their background color to indicate which mode is currently selected. * Update to hamlib 4.5.4. As usual, installers for Windows (64-bit and 32-bit), for Linux and also for the Raspberry Pi are downloadable from the Files tab of the jtdx_improved Sourceforge project page <https://sourceforge.net/projects/jtdx-improved/files/jtdx_2.2.159/>. For details on the previous changes, read the Release Notes <https://jtdx-improved.sourceforge.io/Release_Notes.txt>. Visit the jtdx_improved homepage <https://jtdx-improved.sourceforge.io/> for further information. Note: The variants with the JTDX GUI remain unchanged, as they don't have mode buttons. Enjoy the new version! 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm... Info: www.qrz.com/db/DG2YCB |

The "Filter" button of JTDX is useful for slow CPUs or when the SWL-mode is used to improve RX sensitivity for DX. However Filter can also be dangerous if it is forgotten to turn it off. In my setup (v2.2.159 improved on Win10) the Filter is activated automatically when a QSO begins and Filter is deactivated when QSO ends. I don't want this behavior but I don't know how to disable it. Any idea? 73, Hans, DK1WB |

Dear JTDX_improved Users, I am pleased to announce that the following update is ready for download: Update 2022-11-14: * This update prevents you from calling the Fox in the wrong time slot when in Hound mode. There is a convention that Hound must always TX odd (15/45), and Fox always even (00/30). So far, on all JTDX and jtdx_improved versions, it was possible to change this manually as with the normal FT8. In my eyes this is/was a severe bug, because currently there are again and again OMs calling the various DXpeditions in the wrong time slot. I also sent my patch to the developers of the original JTDX, so hopefully they fix it there as well. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm... Dear jtdx_improved users, Currently, there are several DXpeditions, and I noticed that quite a number of OMs call the fox in the wrong time slot, and that almost all of them use JTDX (one even jtdx_improved). Upon further analysis, I found that JTDX allows you to easily switch between even/odd even in Hound mode. But this makes no sense at all, because there is the following convention: Hound: always Tx odd (15/45) Fox: always Tx even (00/30) Please make sure that you call the Fox in the right time slot, otherwise no QSO can be made with it! Those who listen to the Fox first and then click on its callsign (as it should be!) will of course be automatically set to the correct time slot. But there are obviously many who just call and call and call and then wonder why they don't hear anything. With WSJT-X and wsjtx_improved, this misbehavior is nearly impossible, because there, always the correct time slot is switched on as soon as one changes into the Hound mode. Therefore, I think about doing the same with jtdx_improved in the future. But until then, please take care of it yourself! 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm... Dear JTDX-Improved users and developers, I tried to compile JTDX-Improved and JTDX-Improved-JTDX-GUI (v2.2.159 improved, 2022-10-07) on a older computer with the youngest Ubuntu that can still be installed on that machine. That is Ubuntu 18.04.6 LTS, a release that is still supported with regular updates. On that platform, the current QT has version 5.9.5 Both variants of JTDX-Improved use a feature of QT5 that only appeared in QT v5.12, namely: "QPalette::PlaceholderText". A feature that is nice, but not really important for the functioning of JTDX. This feature shows up in the C++ header file "ui_mainwindow.h" and breaks the compilation. That header file is created by the "Qt User Interface Compiler" from the QT-XML source file "mainwindow.ui" This header is (obviously) created before make calls on the C++ compiler; so once this compiler fails one can edit the header file. It is enough to just comment-out (or even remove) the six lines that refer to "QPalette::PlaceholderText" and call on "make" again. This then compiles (on my platform) a perfect version of JTDX-Improved. A possibly nicer way to "comment-out" these 6 occurrences in a portable way would be with a "#if", e.g.: #if QT_VERSION >= QT_VERSION_CHECK(5, 12, 0) palette2.setBrush(QPalette::Active, QPalette::PlaceholderText, brush6); #endif But that's hardly worth it, since this file will likely be overwritten by the next full re-build. In the hope that this useful to someone else with older hardware, 73, Jon PE1AQP/DK1AQP |

Dear JTDX_improved Users, I am pleased to announce that the following update is ready for download: JTDX_improved v2.2.159 - Update 2022-11-09: * Bug fix: The ▲ (triangle-up) and ▼ (triangle down) buttons worked the wrong way around. Dear JTDX_improved Users, I am pleased to announce that updated DEBIAN packages for the Raspberry Pi are now available. Many thanks to Carl, WC4H, for his support! To reduce the number of different versions a bit, the Raspberry Pi Installer packages now have the "improved" GUI layout only, but they are now always offered as both 32-bit and 64-bit variants. The "improved" GUI is best suited for smaller screens, but since the last update it also scales well. If any of you would like to have a version with the JTDX GUI, build from source, or send me a private email. General note: For technical reasons, if you install via a DEBIAN package, you may have to manually copy the "sounds" folder into your home directory. You can find this folder in the .deb package or here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/jtdx-improved/files/jtdx_2.2.159/sounds.zip. 73 de DG2YCB, Uwe ________________________________________ German Amateur Radio Station DG2YCB Dr. Uwe Risse eMail: dg...@gm...
