I have been hearing that Frost is dead for many years, but can't get it to start on my machine now. It stalls while "Initializing Mainframe" I am using Linux Mint 13, latest Freenet package, and the current Frost release all installed on a clean drive. I have the download folder set to a folder that doesn't exist (stupid VM) and a file says it is at 100% I have since updated the download folder for that download, so now how do I kick it in the butt to make it update it with freenet and transfer it from the temporary download location? -- <http://adf.ly/?id=2192986> |

Hope someone can help me with this problem. Every time try to open freenet comes back with error message "freenet launcher was unable to connect to the freenet node at port 8888" and "freenet wrapper terminated unexpectedly". I am sure this is a simple solution but I have searched all sources I can think of with no solution I can understand.Would be grateful for any help, please. THANK YOU! |

Hi! I have recently downloaded both Freenet and Frost. Freenet opened and works great, but I can't open Frost. I am using Windows 7 (if that matters) and when I double click the Jar file I get a quick glimpse of some dialog box and then it's gone. If I double click the batch file it tells me that it can't find javaw. Can anyone help me? Thanks! |

Hi, I am currently trying to transfer my freenet and frost installations from one Kubuntu box to another. Freenet is not a problem, but when I copy my frost folder to the new system, and run the .jar, it acts as if it's on a first run and asks me to enter an new ID, all boards and info is gone! What do I need to copy to preserve this information? Or is this a permissions issue. I am a Linux n00b so any info would be great. Thanks! Rob. |

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi Jason, Frost is not downloading the files itself. It acts as a queue manager with a more comfortable interface than the webinterface from Freenet. It might be a problem within Freenet, but I guess that your missing blocks just have dropped out of the network. Try to ask for a reinsert of the files you are trying to download in the corresponding board. Or be a little bit more patient. Sometimes it takes some days for the node, to find additional blocks. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 For those of you wondering, I have just closed all old Bug and Feature reports in the Sourceforg tracker installation. Any of them have been pretty old, and I don?t know which one has already been fixed, is still valid... -----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am pleased to announce the release of a new beta version of the Frost project. This release integrates several changes which have been made by various authors over the last couple of month. Most changes focused on improving the interface for file downloads. But there were other contributions like bug fixes as well. This is the first release, which will be made under my control. Due to lack of time, bback has retired his active development of frost. I would like to use this post to thank him for all the work he has done and the time he has invested to develop Frost further. It has been nearly one decade now, since the development of Frost has been started, and bback has been one of the most active developers. This release is considered to be of beta quality. This means that it is feature complete, but has not been fully tested yet. I would like to ask you to download and test this version of Frost. You can use it with your old configuration and storage data. But I strongly advise you to create a backup of your current frost installation first. Due to the number of frontend changes, there are quite a number of Language changes which still need to be translated. If you are a native speaker of one of the supported languages, please consider to spend some minutes on updating the language settings for your language. Hi, I was running freenet 0.7 and frost 0.7 without problems, but then had to reinstall Frost. I did not save anything, just threw out the frost folder and downloaded it again (I'm using a MAC). Now when I start frost it says it can not connect to freenet, even though freenet is up and running. Could be that my node is the wrong one? Freenet says I am using 127.0.0.1:8888, but the readme in Frost says I should be using 127.0.0.1:8481. I tried to edit the frost config file (as recommedned), but there was no line int here that had "availableNodes=127.0.0.1:8481". I tried just adding a line that said "availableNodes=127.0.0.1:8888, but that did not help. Thanks in advance for any help. C |
