Hi, I'm now a project admin and I think we all would like to if someone has currently a development going on. My current status is: All JSynthLib development projects frozen for over one year and it doesn't look good for the future because I started an engagement with synth-DIY which makes for fun then sitting in front of a computer in the free time, too. But I have enough time to do a little project admin stuff. Cheers, Joachim |

Hi, it looks like nobody wanted to become an admin: There is still lot of spam here. I don't know if I'm senior enough and currently I also don't have much time for development but in between I have some time to do the admin job which shouldn't be that time consuming. I do not think that it will help since all posts comes from different addresses. I think that the problem is that it is too easy for a machine to sign up on the list so this is something that Sourceforge needs to take care of. Maybe moving to some other list server that has more security in this domains would be a good idea. / Roger ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Griffith" <dg...@cs...> To: <jsy...@li...> Sent: Saturday, October 21, 2006 7:24 AM Subject: [Jsynthlib-devel] spam spam spam not lovely > > Would someone with admin rights PLEASE do something about this > spam-a-thon? > > -- > David Griffith > dg...@cs... > > A: Because it fouls the order in which people normally read text. > Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing? > A: Top-posting. > Q: What is the most annoying thing in e-mail? > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------- > Using Tomcat but need to do more? Hello Brent, I checked the loopback test with my two MIDI interfaces on Mac OS X and it worked fine. I use current CVS version not 0.20, so maybe it is a case, or the problem is system specific. Perhaps you could give the CVS version a try. Regards, Robert Wirski PS. I have made some further improvements to the JSL: 1. New Update option, which allows to update selected patches or entire Scene. Now, you do not have to create a new Scene every time you want to make a snapshot of your setup. I missed it a lot. 2. I changed a patch double click from Play to Edit. If the patch editor is absent, a name editor is opened. Such a destructive function as Play should not be run as easily as double click. 3. Now, patch and bank number combos are set to point the origin of patches, not simply to the first positions in the lists. So is Send option. 4. I changed the Command-N keystroke from New Library into New Scene, and the former got Command-L. I assigned also Command-G to Get Patch. 5. Finally, the application closing works as expected, at least on OS X. All changes can be grabbed from http://jsynthlib.republika.pl/wirski.txt.zip in diff patch format, which should be applied to core folder. I have also included an OS X application: http://jsynthlib.republika.pl/JSynthLib.dmg. |

In what may be the first non-spam post on this list in ages, I have a question... :) Using version 0.20 on Debian with a 2.6 kernel, connected to a Delta 1010 (which has a MIDI IN and OUT on an external rackmount box), I am able to talk to the device when I use /dev/midi01 (since the sound chip on my motherboard is card 0, and the Delta is 1). However, JSynthLib's MIDI loopback test seems to lose a byte or two every time. Are there some kind of latency requirements I should know about, or what would be the best place to start troubleshooting this? I am certain it's not the MIDI cable -- it's fairly short. -- + Brent A. Busby * "It's clear. Finally I am beginning to see the end of a very long development cycle. I started to write a Roland D-10 driver for JSynthLib 0.16 but maybe because I didn't grasp the concepts, or because the application was a bit immature (or I was), I put my development efforts on ice until a couple of weeks ago when I started the hard work to upgrade my work to version 0.20. Now I have a driver that supports the majority of the functionality of the D-10 and it is almost completed. I thought it was time to announce the driver so that there will be no more duplicate work. I noticed that there is an MT-32 driver which protocol is closely related to the D-10 but I noticed it too late to use any of it. Now I have to catch up on how to submit stuff to a SourceForge project and of course, finish the driver. Best regards, Roger |

Hi, I'm new to JSynthLib- not even tried it yet, but I was wondering whether anybody knows whether it would be suitable for 'talking' to a Alesis MMT-8 sequencer? I know the MMT-8 can provide a 'SYSEX' dump when requested, so in theory JsynthLib could probably store away sequences when asked to - I dunno. Anybody got the experience of an MMT-8 - and JsynthLib to provide an answer ?! Cheers John |

Hello, due to the fact that I have some free time now i have decided to put some afford to make JSynthLib more handy for me. The first problem I have encountered was partial information about MIDI interfaces. It appears in JSynthLib Properties in MIDI and Synth Driver Panels. In MIDI Port combos there is only information about port number, namely Port 1, Port 2, and so on. it is confusing if the are more MIDI devices installed in a system, like in my case. I have changed the descriptions in the combos to contain also a device name. I wonder if someone would see if it is worth putting into CVS. Files can be grabbed from http://jsynthlib.republika.pl/devnames_upd.zip The lines I have changed are marked with my name. Robert Wirski PS. There are more improvements I would like to make, for example: - a patch in Scene/Library window should point to the same memory where it came from, not to the first element in the combo list; - there should be Scene templates; Please, let me know If you have any ideas how to do it right before I make something incorrectly. |
