Hi, I have now got the Mac OS X MIDI layer to work with jSynthLib. I have tested and am able to control my DX7 from my Mac. It would be great to upload the code and have it tested by someone else to see if it works on other systems as well. I have thought that it might be a good idea to put this library in its own project in Sourceforge as it potentially can be used by other Java applications as well. Any opinions on this? Hi, I am re-using the CAProvider code and just replacing the Java OSX MIDI API (which doesn't exist anymore) with the CoreMidi framework connected via JNA. Right now I'm able to send standard ShortMessages and am struggling getting syses in place. I don't think CAProvider depended on the MacOSXMidiWrapper.java so I have actually removed that file from my code. Hi, As discussed with Frankie in the support forum the OS X Midi Provider (CAProvider) doesn't work on later versions of Mac OS X. I have already implemented a JNI layer for new versions of OS X that supports Midi Sysex messages. It has another interface than the Java Midi Device Provider does. I'm thinking of porting my interface to be compatible with the Midi Device Provider so that it can be used by JSynthLib. Have any of you done this already or do you think it would be useful? I've copied across the main pages from the old jsynthlib.org website - the user guide, programmer info, supported synth list and the contribute page. They need a bit of tidying up and some of the info looks a bit out of date so I've only linked the synth list from the main page of the wiki. |

Done, too. I guess only project admins can add/change the screenshots. They have been automatically included on the wiki homepage. The front page of the wiki has a link to [[project_screenshots]]. I have got the old screenshots from jsynthlib.org although I can't see how to add them to the wiki - possibly its a project access thing? Anyway I have attached them to this email so can someone put them onto the project? And I guess if anyone has any other decent screenshots this would be a good time to add them! frankie |

Cool. Can you make the sf project page link to the wiki directly? It currently just links to the source forge project page (i.e. back to itself). Not quite .. SVN is centralized, while Git is distributed. It's a notably different way of working. It's not *hard* by any stretch, but you need to wrap your head around that fundamental difference. Definitely read some tutorials. And if you use Eclipse, EGit works very nicely. -Bill Zwicky On Sat, Feb 16, 2013 at 1:35 PM, David Griffith <dg...@cs...>wrote: > > The learning curve for git is very mild > |

Here is a description of what needs to be changed (use your own username of course ;) ): Your code repository in upgraded project jsynthlib is now ready for use. Old repository url: http://jsynthlib.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/jsynthlib New repository checkout command: svn checkout --username=jbackhaus svn+ssh://jba...@sv.../p/jsynthlib/code/trunk jsynthlib-code You should do a checkout using the new repository location. The old repository is read-only now. For more detailed instructions on migrating to your new repo, please see https://sourceforge.net/p/forge/community-docs/Repository%20Upgrade%20FAQ/ |

Hello! Forget my last posting about the sysex messages. I guess it was a problem on my side, understanding the sysex format, that the javax.sound.midi packages uses. I'm able to export a scene now as a midi, copy it to my e-50 arranger, play it in the sequencer there to program my Kawai K4 synth with it. It's not optimal yet, and it might fail, if the patches of some synth are quite big, but it works for me, as it seems. If anyone uses the code, it would be nice to get some feedback. I guess my strategy of setting up my synth is quite unusual, so the code shouldn't make it into the main trunk. Maybe some kind of plugin could be created from it, but I don't know yet, how to code this in JSynthLib. Btw: there's no scripting yet in JSynthLib, right? I could use this to create a series of sound with only some parameters differing. Ciao, Andreas |

Hi! So I want to write the sysex messages for a scene to a midi file and thought, it would be nice to use the javax.sound.midi package. Has anyone done this and had problems with corrupted messages? It seems the leading f0 bytes of my sysex messages are gone everywhere? Is this some sort of a known issue? Better don't use it and write the bytes manually? Thanks in advance, Andreas |
