One addition I'd like to see is that whoever starts a
game can also opt for a variant and the game follows
the variant rules. Then the players don't have to police
themselves, saving a lot of bickering.

For this you'd need a button on the central screen with:

NT: disables trading.
RR: Reverse Robber.
Ladder: Disables bots.

Then add the options in the banner so people won't join
the wrong game.

Yes, it'd be fabulous to have a "house rules" selection
interface, something like this:

[checkbox] No trading
[checkbox] Reverse robber (what is reverse robber, anyway?)
[checkbox] No robber for first ____ turns (2 in our house
rules)

Making the game window wider to show this info and the
number of bots/people currently in the game would be nice as
well.
