They decided they hadn't modeled/analyzed supersonic forces on = a control surface well enough. =20 =20 I see the GlobalFlyer is not a Canard. I guess they used the Williams turbofan to save weight. The = relatively low speed of the GlobalFlyer puts 'jet' powerplants at a = disadvantage. I see they want to limit altitude to FL 450, and IAS to = 150 kts. That comes to Mach 0.48, 275 TAS. If they average a 100 kt tailwind it would fly 375 kt * 48 hr =3D = 18,500 nm in 2 days. =20 RAF |
