Surely, you have > contributed something to the JOS Project besides administration. I was wondering if this ever would come up. :) I have contributed no source code to JOS. My contributions have been mainly in the areas of support, administration and infrastructure. One of the primary reasons for this was that many in JOS wish to create a "cleanroom" version of java. I have signed the SCSL and worked with the Sun source code for their jvm, kvm and class libraries. Therefore I am "tainted" and there is a risk that even if my name is only associated with non-core sections, it could expose the effort to problems in this dimension. I have also tried to keep my mouth shut on many of the technical details for similar reasons. >> I would be more than willing to give the mailing list, archives, and >> wiki to the research project. Let's work out the other details Re: the rest of the project and we'll then tackle this. The only real question in my mind is if the "research" effort is named JOS (hence the implementation effort forks off) or the other way around. I personally would lean towards a fresh start for the implementation effort which would include a new name. > In return, I would expect to be a full voting member of the JOS Project. > For example, I would immediately remove links to un-finished, possibly > misguided pages on the JOS Project homepage. I have contributed little to the new JOS wiki and all kudos go to Todd. As far as administration of the wiki goes, Todd has been handling all of it as it is simple for him to move sfWiki patches back to the JOS wiki as needed. If you wished to take this over I'm sure Todd wouldn't mind. All you need is password access to the jos sourceforge project. As part of the switch over, if you take over the JOS name, you'll want to take over the adminstration of the JOS sourceforge assets as well. -iain _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
