Hello I am the owner of goldenagecomics.co.uk, I would like to convert the comics that I have on the site into PDF, so that there will be the maximum about of flexibility when downloading. I have tried your software but can not get it to work on my vista laptop, if there a batch feature to convert multiple 100's of comics? Thanks Fizul Sima |

Thanks! I've been meaning to add these features myself for quite a while, so this contribution is very welcome. Currently I'm preparing the release of version 0.9.27 but I'll look into the patch once the release is out. Cheers, Thomas. |

I just submitted a patch for the scrolling work I did the last few days. I'm sure there are better ways than what I did that keep it in-line with the rest of the code, but this was a nice little hack that has gotten Jomic to a point I'm very comfortable with without a lot of work. I'd love to hear if anyone has comments or suggestions. |

Hi guys, I've been using FFView/Comical/what have you for a while, but never felt quite comfortable in them. I just gave Jomic a shot a few days ago, and decided that this is pretty much exactly what I'm looking for, with a few minor differences. So, I checked out the code and I'm making some minor additions for myself, and will be passing them back upstream if they're things that other people might want. My plan is for the following: - Switch space from an automatic next-page to a large page scroll that jumps to the next page if the page is already at the end. (Currently at 30 'clicks'.) So that, for instance, if the comic you're reading is 90 clicks long, hitting space 3 times will take you to the next page. - Horizontal scrolling (somehow find a way around that JScrollBar limitation) - "Draggable" scrolling -- that is, if you click and drag the image, it moves a new section in 'frame'. What would be the preferred way of contributing this code? |

Checkouts and builds should work again. There's one new thing though: after you checked out a new working copy, you have to run "ant setup". It's enough to run it once though it will not cause any harm if you run it several times. The developer guide has been updated accordingly and is available online. Cheers, Thomas. |

I did some cleanup in the svn repository, which threw the revision numbers out of sync. That means if you have an existing work copy you need to remove it and re-checkout the repository. The ant targets to build xml documents are currently broken. I'll post a follow-up once I'm done. Cheers, Thomas. |

I just compiled a nightly build incorporating all recent fixes and features. You can try get it from <http://jomic.sourceforge.net/nightly/index.html>. I'm gonna toy with it for a couple of days and probably do some cleanups, but essentially this should be version 0.9.24. Most notable changes: - added rotation in full screen - added preview of front page in "open comic" dialog - a few minor bug fixes Cheers, Thomas. |

Hi all, In the past days I tinkered with Checkstyle, and addressed a couple of issues that have been bugging me for a long time. First of all, I've upgraded the repository from Checkstyle version 3.5 to 4.1. This was painless. Next, I enabled a few more checks. Some have been part of the coding guidelines, but not been detected by Checkstyle yet. Most important, attempting to assign a new value to a parameter or using more than one return statement is now detected. Interesting new checks are those for cyclomatic and NPath complexity. They mercilessly point out messy code segments. And finally, the metrics report now includes a section on Checkstyle, showing how the number of issues changed over time. See <http://jomic.sourceforge.net/metrics.html#style>. As you can see from the figure on "Number of issues" in the metrics report, a lot has been resolved in the past days. Partially because the code was cleaned up, but also because there are now suppressions for certain messages. In particular, magic numbers in test cases are not objected anymore, which was a major culprit in the increase of issues in late 2005 (which was when I told Checkstyle to include source code for test cases). Interesting links to the repository: - Checkstyle configuration: <http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.cgi/jomic/trunk/jomic/settings/ checkstyle.xml?view=markup> - Checkstyle suppressions: <http://svn.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.cgi/jomic/trunk/jomic/settings/ checkstyle-suppressions.xml?view=markup> Cheers, Thomas. |

Hi all, I just added test coverage metrics to the metrics report. For details, see <http://jomic.sourceforge.net/metrics.html#coverage>. I'm positively surprised that test coverage has remained pretty constant over time. For some reason, it was almost zero around March 2005. I couldn't figure out why yet, but I'm pretty sure it's unrelated to the test code. Probably the test target failed early and I didn't notice. Nevertheless, there still is quite some code the tests don't cover. A large part of the untested code is related to pure GUI parts like ActionListener callbacks. I really should get my act together and finally beat Abbot (a GUI testing framework) into submission. Cheers, Thomas. |

The SVN repository now has tags to check out older versions of Jomic. The base URL is <https://svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/jomic/tags/>. Currently there is only 0.9.19 and 0.9.20, but this will grow as time passes. Cheers, Thomas. |

Not that I'm aware of. I don't know much about Palm OS, but does it support JDK 1.4? If not, =20= you will need to adapt the source code for older JDK's. For some hints, =20= see the developer guide, in particular this section: =20 <http://jomic.sourceforge.net/developer-guide.html#porting-to-non-java=20= -1.4-platforms>. Let me know if you need more directions or want to start a port. In case Jomic is too complex an application for Palm, try to port one =20= of the simpler Java viewers mentioned in the FAQ: CBViewer or =20 FourColors. See =20 <http://jomic.sourceforge.net/faq.html#what-else-is-there>. Thomas. |

In the CVS, Jomic now has some basic localization support. I haven't bothered yet to localize everything, but the menus and some dialogs are already there. I also updated the developer-guide to describe how to add support for additional languages, for details, see <http://jomic.sourceforge.net/developer-guide.html#localization>. Thomas. |
